Retirement planning 'can be thrilling'

Planning for retirement may be the most "exciting" financial activity a person can do, one expert has argued.

Ian Hudson, founder of Hudson Green & Associates, told unbiased.co.uk that people have to think about their financial future when they are young, but claimed the process need not be boring.

"It is basically about wealth creation for the future. And the best thing about saving for the future is that the younger you are, the more time you have in which to grow your pot of money," he commented.

Mr Hudson also pointed out that people have a wealth of choices open to them when carrying out retirement planning, as they can potentially make an income from sources such as pension plans, second homes and even art collecting.

However, the expert claimed that this process is made easier if people seek the guidance of professionals and recommended they use independent financial advisers to explain their options to them.

Recent research by Confused.com found that pensions are the most puzzling financial product, leaving 83.9 per cent of people baffled.
